Binary Domain Preview

Binary Domain Preview

Under development at Sega Japan, specifically the team behind the Yakuza series, Binary Domain is a squad-based third person shooter set in the future. The game looks and feels a bit like Vanquish in that its a fast paced cover based shooter and features gigantic mech battles.

Check out the preview for Sega’s Binary Domain after the break.

Binary Domain Gameplay

During my time with the PAX demo, the one mech I battled was the size of a building, and it took a lot of fire from my assault rifle and rocket launcher to defeat the giant cybernetic monstrosity.

One thing I noticed when fighting the mech was that the game featured really cool particle and destruction effects. It was great to see my rockets really breaking apart pieces of the mecha’s armor.

I also noticed that the pop-up from cover and shooting animations were really well animated. It really looked like the gun carried some weight and the main character struggles to keep it upright as he stops and pops at enemies in his line of sight.

So far, there has been no announcements or details regarding it’s multiplayer component; however, Sega is aiming for a 2012 release for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

If you liked Vanquish, this may be a title that you should keep an eye on. I’ll play it again whenever I have the chance and give you guys an update.

In the meantime, check out this gameplay demo footage exclusively on JTM Games.
