Top Five Potential Warriors Orochi Character Crossovers
If you were developing the next Warriors Orochi title, which iconic game characters would you like to crossover to your game?
Warriors Orochi 3 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is a hack and slash game that combines Tecmo-Koei’s Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. The game features over 120+ characters; all coming with unique movesets, voice acting, and multiple costumes. Whilst already a crossover game itself, it hasn’t stopped the developers from including some really cool guest character appearances.
Characters from other franchises like Ryu Hayabusa and Ayane (Ninja Gaiden/Dead Or Alive), Joan of Arc (BladeStorm: The Hundred Years War), Achilles (Warriors: Legends of Troy), and Nemea (Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll) all showed up and joined the fight against the dangerous Hydra.
This got me thinking, what other characters from different games or franchises would fit into the world of Warriors Orochi (Orochiverse)? I looked at characters whose movesets, special powers, and penchant for hacking and slashing through waves of enemies to see if they could potentially fit into the game’s ever-growing universe. Let’s get the list started shall we?
EZIO AUDITORE (Assassin’s Creed Series)
Ezio has already shown up as a crossover character in Soul Calibur V. As well, the Assassin’s Creed name and characters have shown up in other games such as Metal Gear Solid, LittleBigPlanet, Prince of Persia, and even the more recent Final Fantasy XIII-2, so it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Ubisoft and Tecmo-Koei ever collaborate to have their characters show up in each others’ games.
Ezio Auditore De Firenze would be a great addition to the Orochiverse since his moveset and combos (aside from his counters) require players to press the attack button repeatedly. Ezio can utilize his weapons and equipment like the sword, the dagger, and to some extent, the wrist gun during his battles with Hydra’s henchmen. Not only that, Tecmo-Koei should have Ezio cut everyone down with his dual wrist blades as his powerful Musou attack.
THE DRAGONBORN (Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)
FUS RO DAH!
Imagine using that iconic attack on the waves of soldiers intent on (trying) to defeat him. Skyrim’s Dragonborn would be a great crossover character for Warriors Orochi since he’s had experience fighting waves upon waves of enemies and even dragons in Skyrim. Not only that, since the Orochi universe melds with other universes, Skyrim’s environments and enemy types wouldn’t be out of place in the Orochiverse. It’s really up to the developers what weapon they’d like to give the Dragonborn, but it would be nice if he brought with him the dual swords that he wields in his iconic pose for the game.
And with the power of the FUS RO DAH (aka the Force Balance Push) as his crowd-clearing Musou, the Dragonborn would be a great addition to your already overpowered Warriors Orochi strikeforce.
DANTE (Devil May Cry)
Devil May Cry kick-started a different style of action adventure genre that emphasized skill, speed, and pin point precision as players honed their skills at destroying their opponents in stylish ways. It was a fresh game that blended gun and sword play as well as a deep combo and upgrading system to create one of the most fun and fresh action games on the PlayStation 2.
Dante’s seem like a great fit for the Orochiverse, his stylish attacks and combos are reminiscent of Samurai Warriors’ Saika Magoichi. His sword “Force Edge” and dual pistols “Ebony and Ivory” as well as his superhuman strength and supernatural powers will make him a perfect addition to the Warriors Orochi Strikeforce. Dante’s “Devil Trigger” as well as his “Devil Must Die” hyper combos from Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 would be perfect for his ultimate Musou attack if he ever joins the Orochiverse.
THE WOLVERINE (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)
X-Men: Origins’ Wolverine would be a perfect fit for Warriors Orochi since he’s already a master of cutting through hordes of villains (and has been featured in many beat-em-up games in the past). His claws and his moveset really would transition well into the Orochi Universe and I can definitely see him just destroying thousands of poor hapless enemy soldiers like it’s the easiest thing.
His “Berserker Barrage” super from Marvel Vs. Capcom series also makes for one deadly Musou special attack. The Wolverine is like a rabid hunter, a killer on the loose, and anyone who stands between him and his goal (in this case Hydra) gets sliced, diced, impaled, and mutilated in ways that would make even The Punisher queasy.
KRATOS (God of War)
Since God of War is essentially a beat-em-up/hack-and-slash game, and the fact that Kratos tends to invade other franchises whenever he wants (Soul Calibur, Mortal Kombat, the kid-friendly LittleBigPlanet and ModNation Racers ), the Anti-hero’s invasion of the Orochiverse doesn’t sound as far-fetched as it seems. His attacks, combos, weapons and movesets fit in perfectly with Warriors Orochi playstyle. His massive ego will definitely rub the Orochiverse characters the wrong way, especially the aforementioned Wolverine which would create some friction and drama between the strike force.
And since we’re giving each character their most powerful Musou attack, I’d give Kratos his “Rage of the Titans” as his ultimate attack. This crowd-clearing move should take down henchmen, officers, and even boss characters like you wouldn’t even believe.
