Vancouver Developers Collaborate For ‘Full Indie Summit’ Later This Month
A few years ago, Vancouver played host to GDC Canada; it had a lot of potential, but didn’t attain the success it needed to continue every year. Thankfully the indie gaming community, including Vancouver developers will collaborate for ‘Full Indie Summit’ later this month. Organized by VBlank Entertainment’s Brian Provinciano (Retro City Rampage), Full Indie Summit is a not-for-profit event that will host a number of talks from game developers around the country.

In a surprising announcement, Sony and Nintendo have also signed on to attend the event and will be letting independent developers know the steps they need to take to get their games onto Sony and Nintendo consoles. They’ll also be giving a rundown of the improvements and streamlined processes that they’ve made to make developing games on their consoles as pain-free for indie devs as possible.
From morning to afternoon, expect developer talks to cover topics such as game design, game art, business as well as marketing their games.
Some of the speakers at Full Indie Summit include:
- Nels Anderson (Klei Entertainment) – Mark of the Ninja, DeathSpank
- Jake Kazdal (17-BIT) – Skulls of the Shogun, Space Channel 5, Command & Conquer 4
- Shane Neville – Shellrazer, Company of Heroes, Need for Speed
- Tyler Sigman – HOARD, Age of Empires: the Age of Kings, Sonic Rivals
- Erik Johnson (Arcen Games) – A Valley Without Wind
- Joel Green – Mass Effect 2 & 3, Dragon Age 2, Need for Speed: Undercover
The Full Indie Summit will take place at The Rio Theatre (1660 E Broadway @ Commerical, Vancouver, BC) on April 20, 2013 from 10 AM to 4 PM.
If you’re interested in attending Full Indie Summit, you can RSVP and purchase tickets here. Tickets are $10.00 per person. For more information on the event, check out the Full Indie Summit official site.
